In 2001 CFWW entered into a partnership with SpecialLink, Canada's National Centre for Child Care Inclusion, on a series of projects designed to improve child care experiences for children with special needs and improve the ability of child care centres to be inclusive of children with special needs.
These projects included Partnerships for Inclusion, an evaluation of intervention projects in Nova Scotia which were designed to: 1) improve overall program quality in child care centres, with a focus on promoting change in the preschool classrooms, and 2) enhance child care centres’ inclusion capacity and inclusion quality.
Partnerships for Inclusion was completed in 2006 and two reports are available on the SpeciaLink website.
This project was funded by: Special Link, Government of Nova Scotia, and Human Resources Development Canada (now known as Human Resources and Skills Develoment Canada).
Currently, CFWW and SpeciaLink are partners in a project called Assessing Inclusion Quality in Early Childhood Learning and Child Care. This initiative, funded by the Canadian Council on Learning, will complete the development of a statistically sound, valid, reliable, user-friendly and well-accepted assessment tool for assessing inclusion quality in early childhood learning and child care settings.
