Evaluation of The "Seniors Offering Support" Program

By: Gillian Joseph

In January 2002, the Guelph/Wellington Seniors Association established a partnership with the Wellington Dufferin Seniors Services Committee. The Association and Services Committee brought local seniors and service providers together to focus on reaching older adults in our communities, bridging the gap between the senior in the community and the services in place to provide professional assistance. As a result of this collaboration, these partners launched SOS –Seniors Offering Support. SOS’s most tangible product has been the senior peer telephone support program, which encourages older adults to share their situations, reach out for assistance and empower them to find solutions for themselves.
